Self-Care Strategies and Burnout Prevention: Redefining your Identity in the Counselor Profession

This virtual workshop will demonstrate to participants how their identity contributes to their professional role as a counselor, identify and describe signs and symptoms of burnout, and describe self-care strategies to reduce signs and symptoms of burnout.

  • Participants will learn how their identity contributes to their professional role as a counselor.\

  • Participants will be able to identify and describe signs and symptoms of burnout and how it affects their role as a counselor.

  • Participants will be able to list and describe self-care strategies or techniques to reduce signs and symptoms of burnout

Upon attendance of the workshop and completion of the post workshop survey, participants will receive a certificate reflecting their fulfillment of the workshop via email within 48 hours.

Carla Cauley

Carla D. Cauley, MA, NCC®, LPC, LCDCI, NCPM is currently employed as an LPC in the Behavioral Health Transfer Center at Texas Health Resources along with seeing clients part-time in private practice. She has worked as a clinician, in non-profit, as a preferred therapist for US Federal District Courts, Court Coordinator for the Dallas County Family Courts and as a Supervisor for U.S. Federal Probation and Pretrial Services in the Northern District of Texas.

Carla has two adult children, a daughter who is a LMSW working and obtaining her clinical hours in outpatient at John Peter Smith Hospital and a son who is in his junior year as student athlete (football) at Georgetown College, in Georgetown, KY, majoring in Business Finance. She is a member of the Saint John Baptist church in Grand Prairie, Texas, and enjoys gardening, reading, writing, and cooking while spending time with family and friends.
